In combination with the high performance Madge Collage Family of ATM switches, the Collage 25 PCI Adapter brings the full benefits of ATM to the desktop at a breakthrough price. The adapter features an in-house designed, high-performance ASIC for Segmentation and Reassembly (SAR) to affordably deliver ATM to the desktop and enable deployment of new business applications.

Supporting both category 3 UTP, as well as STP cabling, the adapter allows the user to take advantage of the benefits of full duplex, high performance ATM without the expense of upgrading their cabling plants.

The adapter supports up to 1,024 virtual circuits providing high flexibility and more than an adequate number of connections to support the most demanding business applications. With upgradable software, the Collage 25 PCI Adapter can quickly be updated to support important standards developing in the ATM Forum, such as ABR flow control.

Interoperability

The Collage 25 Adapter offers seamless interoperability with the Collage Family of ATM switches and adapters and integrates into all major client-server environments. Driver support includes NT, NetWare, DOS and Windows. Flexible traffic shaping (from 2kbps to 25 Mbps) offers the ability to regulate transmission output to adhere to negotiated traffic speeds.

Through Madge's commitment to ATM Forum standards for LAN Emulation and SVC signalling, users also benefit from interoperability with a wide range of standards-based routers and switches.

Industry leading LAN Emulation

Today's LAN applications are designed to run over a shared-media network such as Ethernet or Token Ring. ATM networks are connection-oriented. Madge's industry-leading LAN Emulation software, fully implementing the ATM Forum Emulation Version 1.0, offers an efficient solution to the problem of running current LAN software over ATM and provides investment protection for today's legacy applications. Madge LAN Emulation software includes both Token Ring and Ethernet LEC, LECS, BUS and LES.

The Collage 25 PCI Adapter offers an easy-to-use management facility that allows user access to configuration management and network performance monitoring. Complete statistics may be displayed on an individual virtual channel or adapter level basis. Local control and configuration capabilities ensure efficient, trouble-free operation.
