                                               LSS 5.0(0), August 1996
                                               -----------------------

Summary
-------

This file describes how to change the mode of your Smart 16/4 AT Plus
Ringnode by using ATPMODE.EXE. Use ATPMODE.EXE if you want to use
network drivers earlier than LSS 4.2 with your Ringnode.

*** Note *************************************************************
* ATPMODE.EXE is applicable only to Smart 16/4 AT Plus Ringnodes. It *
* will have no effect on any other Ringnodes. *
**********************************************************************

*** Note *************************************************************
* ATPMODE.EXE is relevant if you want to use network drivers prior *
* to LSS 4.2                                                         *
**********************************************************************

*** Note *************************************************************
* For information about password protecting your Ringnode, refer to *
* the PWSET.TXT file.                                                *

Command-line options
--------------------

There are a number of command-line options available for use with
ATPMODE.EXE. They are listed in this section. Each command line must
begin with the command ATPMODE followed by a space character.

/?
--
Use this option to display help information.

/list
-----
Use this option to display the configuration of the Ringnodes(s)
installed in your workstation.

/io=<hhhh>
----------
Use this option to specify the I/O location of the Ringnode you wish
to modify.

/mode=<MODE>
------------
This option selects the mode. <MODE> can be either 'normal' for
normal Smart 16/4 AT Plus operation or 'at' for Smart 16/4 AT
compatible operation.

/secure
-------
This option will make your Ringnode secure. Only Smart LAN Support
Software version 4.3 utilities (or later) will run on a secure
Ringnode. Use this software in conjunction with PWSET.EXE (see
PWSET.TXT). The operation of network driver software is not affected
by making the Ringnode secure.

**********************************************************************
Note: For maximum security, once you have made a Ringnode secure, you
cannot return it to a non-secure state.
