Installing CMDGODI.LAN under Windows95

Installing CMDGODI.LAN

To install CMDGODI.LAN:

  1. Install your Madge Smart Ringnode by following the instructions in the Ringnode's Installation Guide.

Note: You need the Novell Client32 for Windows 95 installation disks and the Windows 95 CD-ROM to install CMDGODI.LAN under Windows 95.

  2. Choose one of the following:

Installing CMDGODI.LAN for the first time

  1. Run the Novell Client32 installation utility from the Novell installation disks. From the Select Network adapter window, select Have Disk.
Enter the path where the files ODICMDG.INF and CMDGODI.LAN can be found. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  2. If they exist, delete the files NETMADGE.INF and ODIMADGE.INF from the \WINDOWS\INF directory. These files are used to auto- install other Madge drivers when new Madge hardware is detected. We recommend that you copy ODICMDG.INF into the \WINDOWS\INF directory after the first time installation. This allows CMDGODI.LAN to be automatically installed if Madge adapters are installed in the computer at a later time.

Subsequent installation of CMDGODI.LAN (Non-Plug and Play mode)

  1. Choose Add from the Network dialog box followed by Adapter.

  2. If you have previously copied ODICMDG.INF to the \WINDOWS\INF directory (we recommend you do this), select Madge from the list of manufacturers. Otherwise choose Have Disk and insert a disk containing ODICMDG.INF and CMDGODI.LAN. From the list of adapters presented, choose the one you wish to install and click OK to continue installation.

Subsequent installation of CMDGODI.LAN (Plug and Play mode)

If you have copied ODICMDG.INF into the \WINDOWS\INF directory (we recommend you do this) before installing the new adapter, Windows 95 will automatically install CMDGODI.LAN for that adapter the next time your computer re-boots. This only happens if the adapter is Plug and Play compatible. Plug and Play Ringnodes include the Smart 16/4 PCI Ringnode , Smart 16/4 EISA Ringnode, Smart 16/4 MC Ringnode, Smart PCMCIA Ringnode, Smart AT PnP Ringnode, and the Smart ISA PnP Ringnode.
