LAN Manager:
installing the NDIS2 driver

The Madge NDIS2 driver for DOS is called MCBND.DOS. To install it, follow the instructions below:

  1. Put Disk1 of the LAN Manager v2.2c disks into the floppy drive.
  2. Type A:\SETUP, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. In the Install LAN Manager box, type the path of the target directory or use the default.
  4. Choose between LAN Manager Enhanced and LAN Manager Basic installations, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. When prompted, put the next disk into the floppy drive.
  6. In the Network Adapter Driver box, press [Alt D] for "Other Drivers".
  7. Put the Madge CSS Release Disk into the floppy drive, and type the path A:\DOS.
  8. Choose the protocols you need.
  9. Confirm your choice.
  10. If you chose IP, type your IP details.
  11. Type a computer name, a user name, and a Domain name.
  12. Choose whether to run LAN Manager with Windows or not.
  13. If the program has detected a memory manager in the PC, choose whether you want the program to maximize application memory. The program does this by freeing up as much conventional DOS memory as it can.
  14. Review the information you have given to the program, and save the settings.
  15. When prompted for another disk, put LAN Manager disk 2 into the floppy drive again.
  16. Insert disks and press [ENTER] as prompted.
  17. When the system has finished copying files, a screen appears reporting the changes it has made to the workstation's configuration.
  18. Press [ENTER].
  19. Reboot the PC.
