Banyan Vines: installing the NDIS2 driver

Banyan Vines:
installing the NDIS2 driver

Versions of Banyan Vines earlier than 5.50(1) require a patch from Banyan.

The Madge NDIS2 driver for OS/2 is called MCBND.OS2. To install it, follow the instructions below:

  1. Install Vines for an IBM Token-Ring adapter, selecting NDIS Driver Token Ring from the New Driver Selection menu in VCLIENT.

  2. Edit your CONFIG.SYS file by changing the line:

    DEVICE=C:\<VINESDIR>\<DRIVERS>\BN_NDIS\ND_TOK\IBMTOK.OS2

    to:
    DEVICE=C:\<VINESDIR>\<DRIVERS>\BN_NDIS\ND_TOK\MCBND.OS2

  3. Copy the file MCBND.OS2 to: C:\<VINESDIR>\<DRIVERS>\BN_NDIS\ND_TOK

  4. Edit PROTOCOL.INI by replacing the [IBMTOK_NIF] section with:

    [MCBND_NIF]
    	DRIVERNAME=MCBND$

  5. In PROTOCOL.INI, change all other occurrences of IBMTOK to MCBND.
