OS/2 Warp v4.0

  1. Put the OS/2 Warp CD into the CD drive.
  2. Put the OS/2 Install disk into the floppy drive and boot the PC.
  3. At the Welcome screen, choose Advanced installation.
  4. Select Accept the drive.
  5. Select either High Performance File System or FAT File System.
  6. The program copies files for a few minutes.
  7. Remove the OS/2 Install disk and press [ENTER].
  8. In the System Configuration dialog, click Next.
  9. Click Next again.
  10. Select a printer and click OK.
  11. Select the display driver for your PC and click OK.
  12. Select any system components you need and click Next.
  13. Select any advanced options you need, and click OK.
  14. In the OS/2 Warp Setup and Installation dialog, check the boxes for the clients you want to install (for example, "File and Print Client", "TCP/IP Services", and "NetWare Client". Then click Next.
  15. Click Network Adapters and Protocol Services.
  16. In the Current Configuration box, select the Madge Fastmac Plus OS/2 NDIS driver.
  17. Click the Change Adapter button.
  18. Click the Other Adapter... button.
  19. Insert the Madge CSS Release Disk, and type the path A:\OS2.
  20. Click OK. The system copies files.
  21. Remove the Madge disk, and click OK.
  22. In the Configuration box you will see different options depending on which clients you have chosen to install.

    • If you click File and Print Sharing Services, you are prompted for a workstation name and a LAN Server Domain Name.

    • If you click Novell NetWare Client, you must type the name of our preferred server, or the Name context of your directory services.

    • If you click TCPIP Services, you can either type your IP address and subnet mask, or you can use DHCP (which assigns IP parameters automatically). If you are not using DHCP, you might need to type a TCP/IP Domain Name or Name Server address.

  23. To continue, click on Install, then click on OK.
  24. The system performs installation routines for a few minutes.
  25. When the Monitor Configuration/Selection Utility dialog appears, click OK.

    When the PC reboots itself, you might notice an error message relating to the MCBND.MSG file. You can ignore this error message, and if you do your installation is complete. However, to make the message disappear, continue the installation procedure by following the instructions below.

  26. Click on the System Setup icon on the Warp Center.
  27. Select MPTS Network Adapters and Protocol Services.
  28. Click Install.
  29. Put the Madge disk into the floppy drive, and type A:\OS2. Click OK.
  30. Click Exit.
  31. Click Exit again.
  32. Click OK.
  33. Click Exit.
  34. Shut down and reboot the PC.
