Installing the Miniport driver for Microsoft Windows 95 - Introduction

Windows 95 uses the NDIS3 driver, MDGMPORT.SYS.

The Windows 95 software includes a driver that can run on all Madge Smart Ringnodes except the recently released Madge Smart 16/4 PCI (BusMaster) Ringnode. If you are satisfied with the driver released with Windows 95, continue to use it.

The driver, MDGMPORT.SYS, shipped with Madge Lan Support Software version 5.0 supports the Madge Smart 16/4 PCI (BusMaster) Ringnode. You may also find that this driver runs faster than the driver provided with Windows 95.

If you have not yet installed Windows 95 and wish to use the new driver, allow Windows 95 to install the driver shipped with Windows 95, and then follow the upgrading procedure that starts on the "Previous page".

If you have a Madge Smart 16/4 PCI (BusMaster) Ringnode, Windows 95 will detect the adapter during installation and ask you for the manufacturer's disk.

Insert the Madge LSS CSS Release Disk 2 and Windows 95 will install the new driver for Madge Smart 16/4 PCI (BusMaster) Ringnode.
