Connecting to the network

Make sure that you choose the correct cable for the network that you are connecting to.

After installing the Ringnode into the computer, connect it to a working token-ring network. To do this, use either:

• STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) or,

• UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) cable.

Earlier versions of the Smart 16/4 EISA Ringnode require the cable type to be set from the EISA configuration program. On current Ringnodes the correct option is selected automatically. However, Madge Wizard will report the cable type as set by the configuration program.
