Testing the CardBus Adapter using DIAG.EXE
The Madge diagnostics program is called DIAG.EXE. It is a DOS program. As well as testing that the adapter is working
correctly, DIAG gives you details of the adapter's configuration. Note, however, that the hardware resources the adapter uses
in a DOS environment might be different from those it uses if you boot the PC into Windows 95 or OS/2.
To run DIAG:
- Boot the PC into DOS.
- Put the Madge CSS Release Disk into the floppy drive.
- If you do not have Card and Socket Services for DOS loaded on the PC, then load the Madge Card and Socket
Services emulator. This is called MADGECS.EXE. To load it type: A:\UTILS\MADGECS. MADGECS might ask
you to exclude an area of memory from the area that your memory manager uses. If it does, then exclude the relevant
are of memory by editing the memory manager's device line in CONFIG.SYS. Then reboot the computer.
- Run DIAG by typing A:\UTILS\DIAG. For a list of the command-line options you can use, type A:\UTILS\DIAG ?.
- If your adapter fails any of the diagnostics tests, follow the advice the program gives. If you still have problems, do some
troubleshooting (use your browser's Back button to return to this page), and if you still cannot get the adapter to work,
contact Madge Technical Support.
