Configuring the ring speed for the CardBus Adapter
 | It is important that the ring speed of the adapter matches the speed of the network. If it does not, you can seriously impair
the operation of the network. |
The CardBus Adapter has a factory default ring speed of 16Mbps. You can alter the ring speed to 4Mbps by running the
Madge Token Ring Configuration Program, TRCFGC.EXE. This is a DOS utility which is supplied on the Madge CSS
Release Disk in the /UTILS directory. To run TRCFGC.EXE:
- Boot the PC into DOS.
- Put the Madge CSS Release Disk into the floppy drive.
- If you do not have Card and Socket Services for DOS loaded on the PC, then load the Madge Card and Socket
Services emulator. This is called MADGECS.EXE. To load it type: A:\UTILS\MADGECS. MADGECS might ask
you to exclude an area of memory from the area that your memory manager uses.
- Next, run the Token Ring Configuration program by typing TRCFGC at the DOS prompt, and use the program's menu
options to configure the ring speed you need to use.
For a list of the command line options that you can use with TRCFGC, type TRCFGC ?.
