With every Smart 16/4 Ringnode, Madge provides a complete suite of support utilities that help to minimize the time and resource required to implement add new adapters and changes existing configurations.

Installation and Madge Wizard

These support utilities include a hardware configuration utility (TRCFGC.EXE), the Madge's Plug and Play enabler (PNPENABL.EXE, and PNPENABL.OS2) and the Madge Diagnostics program (DIAG.EXE). For information on how to configure Ringnodes with these utilities, select the "Ringnode Config" button in the toolbar at the bottom of this page.

With this release of LAN Support Software (LSS), Madge has introduced a new a DOS based software suite, Madge Wizard for quick and easy configuration of Smart 16/4 ringnodes. Madge Wizard provides network administrators with a way in which to easily modify hardware and driver settings, as well as define standard installation scripts that can be applied network-wide.

Management Agents

Also included in this release is the Madge Desktop Management Interface (DMI) Agent for DOS and OS/2 enviroments. The DMI specification defines the interaction of manageable 'components' within a desktop system. The benefit of DMI is that, through a single interface, many different components can be managed, as long as they conform to certain rules.

The DMI specification was developed by a consortium of leading companies in the PC industry, referred to as the Desktop Management Task Force (DMTF). Madge is active within this group and has played a leading role in the development of the LAN Adapter MIF 1.1 - the standard set of information that a LAN adapter supports.
