Key Benefits

Key Features

Easy to use

To provide a familiar 'look & feel', Madge Wizard uses a mouse driven, 'Windows-style' graphics based interface. To reduce the time taken to get up-and-running, Madge Wizard does not require 3rd party mouse drivers. For users without VGA or better quality displays, access to the highly visual menu-based user interface is still available as Madge Wizard can run in a text only mode with no loss of information or functionality.

On-line User Documentation Suite

Madge has streamlined information access by providing an Internet-style HTML User Documentation Suite, which can be accessed through the supplied DOS Browser or with any 3rd party Internet Browser. For convience context sensitive help has been incorporated into Madge Wizard, which may be accessed using the help button on the screen or pressing F1.

Wide range of options

Madge Wizard uniquely installs network hardware and enables complex configurations to be created, providing a fast and simple way to make your PC network-ready. To improve installation time, resource conflicts in both Plug 'n' Play and non-Plug 'n' Play systems are identified and resolved. For maximum flexibility on current and legacy adapters, an extensive range of installation and memory management options are available.

Advanced diagnostics for easy fault finding

Madge Wizard contains functionality to automatically resolve hardware resource clashes with Smart 16/4 Ringnodes in Plug 'n' Play environments and also suggests clash free resources for non Plug 'n' Play systems. In addition to hardware clashes, Madge Wizard is also able to perform diagnostics on a client PC's connection to the network by testing cable connections to both the adapter and the MAU or CAU.

Increased Support For Mobile Users

With the increasing move toward mobile users, Madge Wizard provides maximum functionality for laptop users. Installation and maintenance procedures for PC Card adapters can be aligned with that for standard adapters for desktop PCs. This obviates the need to retrain staff as the same installation utility is used to configure both desktop and mobile systems.

Diskless Booting

Remote booting provides centralised management of PC boot files and configuration data, improves security against viruses and data loss, and supports disk-less workstations. Madge Wizard supports all Smart 16/4 Ringnodes equipped with a Smartrom socket, Madge's re-programmable remote boot ROM for RPL or Novell NetWare.
