Installing the MADGEODI.COM driver

To install MADGEODI.COM:

  1. Run the NetWare Client INSTALL.

  2. Select Other Drivers. When prompted to insert a disk, insert your copy of the Madge release disk 2.

  3. Type A:\DOS as the path of the driver software.

  4. Select the Madge Ringnode you have installed.

  5. Continue through the program. When you have finished, shut down and reboot.

Installing Windows for Workgroups for only Novell network connectivity support

  1. Install netware 4.1 client software with support for windows. The installation will install all relevant windows files into the Windows directory.

  2. Start up Windows.

  3. From the Main Group window, select Windows Setup, then from Options, select Network Settings....

  4. From the Network setup dialog box, select Networks.

  5. Select Install Windows support for the following network only.

  6. Move down the options list. If you have Netware 4.1 client installed, select Novell NetWare (Workstation Shell 4.0 and above). If you have Netware 3.x client installed, select Novell NetWare (Workstation Shell 3.X).

  7. The setup procedure will then ask for relevant support files. These files are located on Novell's WINUP9 disk or the latest VLMUP kit. You can find both of these on the Novell Bulletin Board.


Installing Windows for Workgroups to use a Novell Network and a Windows for Workgroup network.

  1. Install netware 4.1 client software with support for windows. The installation will install all relevant windows files into the Windows directory.

  2. Start up Windows.

  3. From the Main Group window, select Windows Setup, then from Options, select Network Settings....

  4. From the Network setup dialog box, select Drivers.

  5. Select Add Adapter. From the adapter list, select Unlisted Adapters.

  6. Copy the Windows for Workgroup files from the LSS 5 directory on the Madge CD-ROM onto a floppy disk.

  7. In the install driver box enter the path where the wfwg files are. For example, A:\
    A list of all the Madge Smart Ringnodes will be displayed.

  8. Select the appropriate Ringnode. For example, Madge Smart 16/4 PCI (BM) Ringnode. A ODI/NDIS3 driver is selected.

  9. Click on Close.

  10. Click on Continue.

  11. Select Workgroup names and workstation names. The setup procedure then asks for relevant support files. These files are located on Novell's WINUP9 disk or latest VLMUP kit. You can find both of these on the Novell Bulletin Board. The support files are installed and the config files are updated.

  12. Restart your computer.

  13. Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file in the Windows directory. In the PROTOCOL.INI file, make sure bindings=MADGEODI. If it doesn't, change all bindings= statements to bindings=MADGEODI.
