3270 emulators using an 802.2 interface

If you need an 802.2 interface, use the Smart LLC driver. 802.2 interfaces are commonly required by 3270 software that links directly to an IBM host, cluster controller, or AS400 computer. You may also require it for 3270 emulators that support direct attach options to 3174 FEPs.

You may need to alter the following LLC parameters from their defaults when you are configuring the Smart Software for the Ringnode in your gateway (This will depend upon the particular 3270 package you are using):

STATIONS
We recommend you increase this to the maximum number of 3270 workstations that you are intending to have connected to your gateway.
Range: 1-254 Default: 24
Abbreviation: ST

EXTRA.STATIONS
We recommend you increase this to the maximum number of IBM host computers that you are intending to have connected to your gateway.
Range: 0 - 254 Default: 3
Abbreviation: EST

SAPS
Some 3270 applications may require you to increase this to 3 or 4.
Range: 0 - 127 Default: 2
