A sample gateway configuration

A sample gateway configuration

In this example the gateway is to be used by forty 3270 workstations and each workstation is to use 2 host sessions. The gateway is connected to the host computer over token ring (TIC connection), and the node address it has is 4000 0000 ABCD. The SMART.CFG file for this configuration would be as follows:

	[HOST]
	 [CARD]
	   NODE.ADDRESS=40000000ABCD
         [LLC]
           ST=40
           EST=2
           S=80
	 [NETB]
	   N=42
	   SA=2

SMART.EXE may not allow you to increase these parameters to the values you want. In this situation, we recommend that you use the Madge MNETBIOS driver. If you use this driver you still need a SMART LLC interface. A sample command line which you might be able to use, is as follows:
SMART LLC ST=40 EST=2 S=80
MNETBIOS N=42 SA=2

The MNETBIOS driver does not impose the same limits as the Smart NETB driver on the size of the parameters that you can specify. It is not downloaded onto the Ringnode (as the Smart NETB driver is) therefore it is not constrained by the amount of on-board RAM that your Ringnode has.
