Installing the Smart NDIS driver

1 Copy the VINES LAN Software (DOS).

2 Install disk to a directory called C:\VINES.

3 Copy EXTRACT.EXE from the \SMART directory of the Madge release disk 2 to C:\VINES. Run Extract to unpack all of the SMART files.

4 Create a SMART.CFG file (in the same directory), and enable NDIS from it.

5 Add the SMART command or device-line to CONFIG.SYS (after the line that runs PROTMAN) or AUTOEXEC.BAT.

To AUTOEXEC.BAT add the following lines (if you are running SMART.EXE from AUTOEXEC.BAT, these lines must come after the SMART command):

CD \VINES
BAN /NDTOKBAN.

6 Run the VINES PCCONFIG utility.
