Installing the Smart NDIS driver

To install a Smart NDIS interface:

7 Select Network Card settings.

8 Select NDIS Token Ring. Type 5 as the interrupt setting. For the Bindings= option, type SMTNDIS_NIF.

9 Save the configuration.

10 Return to the main menu.

11 Ensure that the PROTOCOL.INI contains at least the following information:
[PROTOCOL MANAGER] DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$ [VINES_XIF] DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$ BINDINGS = SMTNDIS_NIF [SMTNDIS_NIF] DRIVERNAME = SMART_NDIS$ Figure 1 Sample PROTOCOL.INI for VINES 12 Reboot the workstation. The Smart NDIS driver is now installed.

To use Smart LLC interface (instead of Smart NDIS), install VINES and select 802.2 from the Network Card Settings menu in PCCONFIG. Load Smart LLC from CONFIG.SYS. To AUTOEXEC.BAT, add:
