Supporting IBM TCP/IP or Wollongong Pathway Access for DOS workstations

IBM TCP/IP or Wollongong: ASI

  1. Install IBM TCP/IP using the IBM Install program, or follow the instructions in the Wollongong manual for installing an IBM Token-Ring adapter.

  2. Install the Smart LLC interface. For information about installing the Smart Software interfaces, see Installing the Smart Software for DOS workstations .

  3. For IBM TCP/IP, edit your CONFIG.SYS file by replacing:
    IBMTR.DRV
    with:
    PCLAN.DRV /x:<irq number>/T

    Figure 1 shows a sample configuration for Wollongong.

CONFIG.SYS:
	DEVICE=PWTCP.SYS
	DEVICE=SMART.EXE 
	REM LLC specified in SMART.CFG

	AUTOEXEC.BAT:
	TOKENRNG
	PWTCP

IBM TCP/IP or Wollongong: ODI

Install the Smart ODI interface following the instructions in Installing the Smart Software for DOS workstations. For all combinations of ODI and TCP/IP specify the FRAME=Token_ring_SNAP parameter in your SMART.CFG file.
