Supporting the IBM LAN Support Program

Supporting the IBM LAN Support Program

The Madge NDIS driver for DOS workstations is called MDGND.DOS. It supports the IBM LAN Support Program version 1.31, and completely replaces the IBMTOK.DOS program.

Installing the MDGND.DOS driver

An installation process suitable for other NDIS applications as well as for the IBM LAN Support program is as follows:
  1. Follow the instructions for installing an IBM Token-Ring adapter as explained in the documentation supplied with your network software.

  2. Edit your CONFIG.SYS file by changing the line:

    DEVICE=IBMTOK.DOS
    to:
    DEVICE=MDGND.DOS

  3. Remove IBMTOK.DOS from the directory in which it is stored. Copy MDGND.DOS from the distribution disk into that directory .

  4. Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file by changing the line:

    DRIVERNAME=IBMTOK$
    to:
    DRIVERNAME=MDGND$
    (Also, replace every other occurrence of IBMTOK with MDGND.)

  5. Delete the lines between DRIVERNAME=MDGND$ and the next section. A section begins with square brackets surrounding some text, for example: [LANDD_NIF].
