To install the Madge driver MDGND.OS2

To install the Madge driver MDGND.OS2

  1. Insert the Madge release disk labelled NDIS Drivers into the floppy drive and change to the directory \OS2INST, which is where the Madge drivers are stored.

  2. Copy the Madge driver MDGND.OS2 and its respective .NIF file to the C:\CID\IMG\LAPS\IBMCOM\MACS directory.

  3. Change to the directory C:\CID\IMG\LAPS\IBMCOM\MACS where the compressed file, MACS.ZIP is stored.
  4. Add the Madge driver and .NIF file to the MACS.ZIP file, by typing: PKZIP -a MACS.ZIP MDGND.OS2 MDGND.NIF

  5. Create boot disks using the THINLAPS command, specifying the appropriate Madge driver. For example, to create a boot disk that loads MDGND.OS2 enter the following sample command line:

    C:\CID\IMG\LAPS\THINLAPS C:\CID\IMG\LAPS A: MDGND.NIF
    For information about creating boot disks, refer to the NTS/2: Redirected Installation and Configuration Guide (part number: S59G-5643).

    To use the MDGND.OS2 file, include the following section in the LAPS response file:

    PROT_SECTION = (
    NIF = MDGND.NIF
    SECTION_NAME = MDGND.NIF
    DRIVERNAME = MDGND$
    )

  6. Create a command client file called MADGE.CMD, which uses the Madge response file by default. As the boot disks load, you are prompted for a client name.
    The LAN CID software provides a sample command file, CASSKEL.CMD, located in the ..\LCU subdirectory on the NTS/2 Utilities disk. You can edit this file to create MADGE.CMD. For more information, refer to the NTS/2: Redirected Installation and Configuration Guide (part number: S59G-5643).

  7. Type MADGE to begin the installation process using Madge drivers.
