Installing MDGND.OS2 for IBM TCP/IP for OS/2 workstations

Installing the MDGND.OS2 driver

The following instructions assume that you have IBM TCP LAPS installed.

To install the MDGND.OS2 driver software:

  1. Run the IBM TCP LAPS program and insert the Madge release disk into a floppy drive. Select Install from the TCP LAPS front panel, and type the path of the directory \OS2INST which is where the drivers are stored. LAPS copies the files from the Madge release disk.

  2. To configure your protocol stack, select Configure from the TCP LAPS front panel.

  3. Select Configure LAN transports from the Configuration box.

  4. In the Configure Workstation window:

    i. If IBM Token-Ring Network Adapter appears in the Current Configuration box, remove the protocols for the adapter individually, and then remove the adapter name.

ii. Add Madge Smart Ringnodes for OS/2 v2.x or Madge Smart Ringnodes for OS/2 v1.3 to the list in the Current Configuration box.

iii. Add IBM TCP/IP to the list in the Current Configuration box. To view or change parameters in PROTOCOL.INI, select Edit.

  5. Complete installation by following the on-screen instructions. Then shutdown and reboot your system.
