Using command-line parameters in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file

The following parameters are available for use in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file. They are suitable for use with MADGEODI.LAN:

PORT = <i/o address> Forces the driver to use the Ringnode at the specified I/O address. If no Ringnode exists at this address, the PORT parameter is ignored.

SLOT = <slot number> Forces the driver to use the Ringnode in the specified slot. If no Ringnode exists at this address, the PORT parameter is ignored.

FRAME = <frame type> Allows you to specify an alternative frame type, according to the protocols you are using.

NAME =<logical driver-name> Allows you to specify a logical name for the driver.

NODE = <node address> Allows you to specify a locally-administered node address instead of the burnt-in node address of the Ringnode. Addresses are valid in the range: 400000000000 to 7FFFFFFFFFFF.

BIA = <burnt in addr> If there are multiple Madge Ringnodes installed in a machine, use this parameter to specify the BIA (node address) of the Ringnode to use.

-POLL This parameter causes the driver to poll for receive and transmit-complete events (By default, the driver will use hardware interrupts for these events). With polling the driver competes for the attention of the CPU with other devices in a polling process. The effect of this option is to allow the driver to perform more effectively in environments where the polling frequency is high.

HELP Displays information about the command-line parameters. The driver does not load when you supply this parameter.
