Configuring the AIX 3.2 driver for the IBM RISC System\6000

Before you configure the driver, make sure that your Smart Ringnode is installed in you r computer and that the lobe cable is connected.

To configure the ringnode driver:

  1. Run the utility, smit whilst logged in as root.
  2. Select the following screen sequence:
    Devices
    Configure Devices Added After IPL

    The driver configuration process will now run. Once this has completed, your ringnode driver is configured to work with your Madge Ringnodes.

By default, the MTOKDD driver is configured to run at 16 MBit/s over STP cabling. If you wish to change the ring speed or media type, see the readme file.

If you want to start the TCP/IP stack select the following sequence of options from the smit utility:
Communications Applications and Services
TCP/IP
Minimum Configuration & Startup

Choose one of the token-ring interfaces, from the list of options that is displayed. You are then prompted to fill in various details about your computer. For information about these details, consult your IBM AIX documentation.
