Configuring the Ringnode and the AIX driver

1. Type smit at the command prompt.

2. Select the following screens in sequence:

   Devices
   Communication
   Token Ring Adapter
   Adapter

3. Select List Adapters to list the adapters installed in your workstation.

4. Select Change/Show Characteristics.

5. Select the adapter whose configuration you want to change.

6. Modify Ring Speed if you do not want your Ringnode to default to 16Mbps.

7. Modify Cable Type if you do not want your Ringnode to default to STP.

8. Configure TCP/IP using the instructions in your TCP/IP manual in conjunction with the following:

   • Type smit startup at the prompt to configure TCP/IP.

   • Type smit tcpip at the prompt to change an interface or add another interface.

   • Select TCP/IP.

   • Select and bind the protocols you require using the instructions in your TCP/IP manual.
