Advanced configuration options for Plug and Play or PCMCIA Ringnodes

You can select the following options under Windows 95 for Plug and Play Ringnodes:

Force 16Mbps - This option allows you to set the ring speed of the Ringnode to16Mbps.

Force 4Mbps - This option allows you to set the ring speed of the Ringnode to 4Mbps.

LAA - A token-ring adapter uses an address that is stored on the adapter card itself. You can set a different, locally administered address, with this option. The address must be a 12 digit hexadecimal number in the range 400000000000 to 7fffffffffff.

Maximum Frame Size - This option allows you to set the maximum sized frame that the adapter will send or receive.

Transfer Type - On some adapters it is possible to configure different methods of of data transfer between the computer and the adapter card. This option allows you to choose which method to use.

If you use the Smart 16/4 PCMCIA/PC Ringnode you have the option to change the Transfer Type to MMIO. If you change the Transfer Type to MMIO data transfer may be faster. Click here for details.

Force 16 Bit PIO - Normally when PIO is chosen as the transfer method MDGMPORT.SYS attempts to use 32-bit programmed I/O on adapter cards that support this mode. On some old or out of specification computers you may experience problems with 32-bit PIO. This option allows you to make MDGMPORT use 16-bit programmed I/O.

Alternate - Some computers have bus timings that are slightly different from those normally used by ISA computers. Use this option to use a different bus timing.
