Installing MDGMPORT.SYS during Windows NT installation

Installing MDGMPORT.SYS during Windows NT installation

To install the driver software, read the following in conjunction with the "Setting Up a Network Adapter Card" section of the Windows NT System Guide.

To install the driver:

  1. Perform one of the following:

    • If you are using Express Setup, Windows NT attempts to detect the network cards in your computer. It does not detect Madge adapters. The program then asks you if you want to install Microsoft Remote Access Service. Answer No. The program then displays the Network Adapter Setup dialog box. This includes a list of network adapters. Select [Other] Requires disk from manufacturer.

    • If you are using Custom Setup, make sure that you are installing the Network components of Windows NT. Cancel automatic detection of adapters, and, from the Network Adapter Setup dialog box, select [Other] Requires disk from manufacturer. Proceed to Installing MDGMPORT.SYS after Windows NT installation.

  2. Insert the Madge release disk, as prompted, and type the path of the Madge drivers.
    For example: A:\

The \WINDOWS directory on the LSS disk only contains a version of MDGMPORT.SYS for PCs with Intel processors. For other processor types MDGMPORT.SYS can be found on the LSS CD-ROM in the following directories.
    DEC Alpha: LSS.500\WINNT\Alpha
    Power PC: LSS.500\WINNT\PPC
    MIPs: LSS.500\WINNT\MIPS

  3. Proceed to Installing MDGMPORT.SYS after Windows NT installation.
