Installing the Smart 16/4 AT PnP Ringnode

Warning: Always turn off the power to your computer before installing or removing any adapter cards.

Caution: Make sure that the ring speed you set matches the speed of your network. The default ring speed for this Ringnode is 16Mbps, to change this run Madge Wizard.

Before you install the Ringnode, do the following:

Check that the Ringnode is bus compatible with your computer.
Read the handling precautions.
Check the type of cable that you are using. The Ringnode will automatically select between its STP and UTP connectors.

Then insert the Ringnode into your computer, and connect it to a working token-ring network.

This Ringnode conforms to the ISA Plug and Play Specification version 1.0i. You can configure the Ringnode in one of three ways:

By having Plug and Play software in the system BIOS of your computer or in your computer's operating system. The Plug and Play software will automatically detect and configure your Ringnode.
By using the Madge Ringnode automatic configuration software PNPENABL supplied on the LSS CD. Under DOS or Windows, PNPENABL allows Plug and Play configuration of your Ringnode even if your environment is not fully Plug and Play compatible.
By using the Madge Wizard software utility supplied on the LSS CD. Madge Wizard allows configuration of the Ringnode in non- Plug and Play environments.

To password protect your Ringnode, run PWSET.EXE.
