Loading IFADAP from CONFIG.SYS

Loading IFADAP from CONFIG.SYS

  1. To provide the option of not using the network:
    Put IFADAP.EXE on the device line that loads the Madge network driver. Use the following syntax:
    DEVICE=IFADAP.EXE CARD=PCMCIA QUESTION[=""]

  2. Specify a question of your own if you want to.

    By default, IFADAP asks, "Do you want to load (F1=Yes/F2=No)?". The question is displayed when CONFIG.SYS executes. The Madge driver runs only if there is a PCMCIA Ringnode installed and if you answer Yes (‘) to the question.

  3. In the following sample device line, SMARTND.DOS loads only if the IFADAP software finds a PCMCIA Ringnode, and you answer yes (‘) to the question (in the example, the line has wrapped onto two lines):
    DEVICE=C:\MADGE\IFADAP.EXE CARD=PCMCIA QUESTION C:\MADGE\SMARTND.DOS

  4. To ensure that the Ringnode is powered down when no drivers are loaded, add the following lines (the line has wrapped onto three lines):
    DEVICE=C:\MADGE\IFADAP.EXE CARD=PCMCIA QUESTION="Do you want to power off the Ringnode (F1=YES/F2=NO)?"
    C:\MADGE\TRPOWER /OFF

    In this sample device line, TRPOWER ensures that the Ringnode is powered down if the IFADAP software finds a PCMCIA Ringnode, and if you answer yes (‘) to the question.
