Before configuring your Smartrom using SMARTROM.EXE

The Madge Smartrom is supplied with a Smartrom image already loaded. The Madge Smartrom images are:

MULTI.ROM (for greater flexibility and for PCI Ringnodes).
NW.ROM (for NetWare Remote Reset).
NRPL.ROM (for Remote Program Load).

Before running the Smartrom configuration software:

Install the Smartrom (unless you have an AT Plus, PCI Fiber, or EISA Fiber Ringnode).
Install and configure the Ringnode, enabling the Smartrom.
Run the diagnostics program (unless you have diskless workstations).

Caution If you have any memory management software in your workstation, ensure that it does not remap the area of upper memory required by the Smartrom. For example with DOS, use the X= parameter on the EMM386 command line, or the RAM= parameter on the 386MAX command line. The addresses used by the Smartrom are given in the Ringnode configuration section.
