Handling Precautions

CautionYour Smartrom is a sensitive, integrated circuit that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge. When you are handling it, be careful to avoid causing any damage.

  • Do not remove the Smartrom from its protective anti-static packaging until you are ready to use it.

  • Before handling the Smartrom, discharge the static electricity from your body by touching a protective grounding device or the metal chassis of your computer.

  • In dry climates, or other environments where static electricity is prevalent, wear a grounding strap on your wrist before handling the Smartrom or removing the cover of your workstation.

  • Always handle the Smartrom carefully by its edges and avoid touching the pins of the Smartrom.

  • Use a proper chip-inserting tool to fit the Smartrom into its socket.
