How to use the software utilities

NoteYou can use the SMARTROM.EXE utility for remote booting. For information on this, refer to 'How to remote boot using the Smartrom'. You can access this section from the main Title page.

Adapter card utilities

  • Configuring your Ringnode settings.

  • Testing your Ringnode to make sure it is working properly.

  • Enabling Madge Plug and Play Ringnodes using PNPENABL.EXE.

  • Changing the software operating mode of your Smart AT Plus Ringnode using ATPMODE.EXE.

  • Using PWSET.EXE and PWRESCUE.EXE to password protect your Ringnodes. Note that you can only password protect Madge Ringnodes or Bridgenodes that have a Smartrom fitted.

  • Loading Madge Card Services to enable Madge PCMCIA Ringnodes.

Software utilities

  • Installing the Madge Ringnodes monitoring program, RingUser.

  • Using the Win32 TCP/IP Performance Test Tool.

  • Installing the Madge Winsock interface.

  • Using the Remote Boot Loader Utility, REMBOOT.EXE.

  • Using the IFADAP.EXE utility to detect network adapters attached to a computer and to allow the selective loading of device drivers depending upon whether a particular adapter is present.

  • Using WHATADAP.EXE to discover identification information about the adapter cards in your computer.
